St. Luke's Preschool December News

November 30, 2016

And just like that, we are gearing up for Christmas. Where does the time go? We have planned many fun and exciting projects for December! The children will be making secret gifts for mom and dad, and the meaning and symbols of Christmas will also be explored through our various projects and activities. Of course, we will also have a special visitor arrive this month: Santa! Please keep this visit a special surprise and do not tell your children about his arrival. Santa will be here to read stories and pass out treats.

3s - Our 3-year olds will focus on the following for December:

  • Continue counting

  • Learn new songs and movements

  • Review colors they've learned

  • Units include: Gingerbread week, Reinder week, Green & Christmas Week

  • Prepare for Christmas program

4s - Our 4-year old classes will work on:

  • Review numbers 1-10

  • Begin introduction to the alphabet, focusing on letters A, B & C

  • Reinforce the letters and sounds by making special craft for each letter

  • Prepare for Christmas program

Time To Grow - Time To Growers' December units include:

  • "Ll," Lion

  • Willy The Word Worm

  • Continue practicing writing skills

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM - THURSDAY, DECEMBER 22nd: The day of the Christmas program is NOT a regular school day. Children will come for the performance only. ALL CHILDREN will perform on Thursday, December 22nd as follows:

  1. 4s - Call time at 8:45AM; Performance at 9:00AM

  2. 3s & Time to Grow - Call time at 10:15AM, Performance at 10:30AM

Parents are asked to wait for us in the church after you drop your child/ren at the classrooms. The children will present a short program IN THE CHURCH, followed by refreshments in our Fellowship hall, lasting about one hour.

If Parkway School District should close on the day of our program due to inclement weather, please wait for a call from your child's teacher letting you know if our program is canceled or rescheduled.

We ask that each family bring a plate of goodies to share after the program (e.g. cheese & crackers, chips/veggies & dip, cookies, etc.).

REGISTRATION: January is registration for preschool families, siblings and church members for the 2017 school year. Applications will be sent home with the children the first week of January. January 31st will be the last day for private registration.

PUBLIC REGISTRATION: We will open our registration up to the public starting February 1st. If you know of anyone interested in our preschool, please let them know of our open registration date.

CHRISTMAS BREAK & A NEW YEAR: School will be closed for Christmas vacation from FRIDAY, DECEMBER 23 - SUNDAY, JANUARY 8 (Kids Day Out students will begin break on Tuesday, December 20). School will resume regular hours on Monday, January 9th.

If you are paying your tuition by cash, please give it directly to Sue Cahill. There are too many people in this building over the weekend that could take it out of our tuition box.

Just a reminder that we have a lot of openings every Friday for our Fun Friday from 9:00-11:30 and Lunch Bunch from 11:30-12:00PM. This is open to all age groups and is only $12/session. Sign-up is on the table in the Fellowship hall.

We wish you a safe and joyful holiday season and Happy New Year!
