November will be an exiciting month for the 4's! We will be talking about and making art projects just like the Pilgrims and Indians did. Of course, children will be making their own Thanksgiving costume for our special feast. We will continue to count and recognize the numbers 8, 9, and 10. We begin the alphabet after number 10. To culminate our unit, the children will prepare a Thanksgiving fruit salad and present a short Thanksgiving program to share with their parents. This is an exciting event for the kids!
Just a reminder as the weather gets cooler to PLEASE label your child's coat and backpacks.
ITEMS NEEDED: We're asking for each child to bring a coffee can, oatmeal can or Planters cheese ball container for a special project, and a large, white T-shirt (one from Dad will work nicely). Please do not worry about underarm stain or other stains left by dad, as these shirts will be dyed. The only shirts we don't want are ones with writing or logos on them. These items will be needed by Monday, November 2nd. Thanks for your help!
THANKSGIVING FEAST & PROGRAM: We will culminate the month of November with our special Thanksgiving feast and performance. We will share fruit, and muffins and enjoy a feast with our parents just like the Indians and Pilgrims did on the first Thanksgiving! Each child will be assigned to bring a special fruit. Please talk to Sue if you are unsure what your child has been assigned. Parents are invited to come at 10:45 am on our special day. Our Special Feast is: Monday, November 23rd.
SHOW AND TELL: Have your child bring something to school that they are thankful for on show and tell this month. Check the calendar for the date.
NO SCHOOL: School will be closed Wednesday, November 25th-Friday, November 27th for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will resume our regular school schedule on Monday, November 30th.
OUR APPRECIATION: It is so appropriate as this Thanksgiving draws near to let you know how thankful we are for all your help and support. It is fun to have moms and dads come and help out in the rooms each week. Kids enjoy having their own parents help out at school. Thank you to the Halloween party moms who planned a great party for the children. Please know that every parent is welcome at the school Halloween parties, even if you did not sign up to help!
FUNDRAISING UPDATE: 'Parents Night Out' was very successful as we raised $200.00! It was a lot of fun and the kids had a ball. The list was full (20 children) and "sold out." So, keep your eyes open and sign-up early for the next event, which will be in the spring when the weather is warmer. Thank you also for the timely manner that everyone was picked up.
PARKING LOT SAFETY: When getting your child out of the car in the morning and the afternoon, please have them stay by the car until you can hold your child's hand to walk them to the door. There are a lot of moving cars coming into the parking lot at diifferent times and it's just too dangerous to let your child run on his/her own from the car to the entrance. Your child's safety is important to us!
Gobble, gobble and Happy Thanksgiving!
